Out for the Evening

Published by Fay at 10:35 pm under Life

We decided to go into Montgomery to meet a friend for dinner and then see a movie.  We left home and drove most of the way to the restaurant with little difficulty.  Just when we thought it would be smooth sailing we came to it.  The traffic.  And it was at a stand still.  We’ve lived in the area so my husband made a turn and another on some secondary roads and arrived shortly after our friend.  She, by the way, lives south of the city also in a rural area, but she can get to the east side of town without hitting much traffic.  It wasn’t that much of an inconvenience, but it was an inconvenience.  We used to not give it much thought, now it’s so irritating!  What do people do who don’t know which secondary roads to take to get them to the same location?  Just sit there while their evening ticks away?  How is that enjoyable?  Living where we do we can get to shopping in 10 minutes, we have a few decent restaurants and a Wal-Mart Super Center.  What more can you ask for?  I suppose it would be nice to have a movie theater, but there is a video rental store and I suppose that works just as well.

Y’all come back,

Fay

I think it comes down to the fact that most people don’t really know the place where they live–not in the real, geographical sense. Instead, we look for the quickest line between point A and point B and forget absolutely everything in between. Given a choice, I’ll take a video rental store and not much traffic any day!

PS- Hope you had a nice dinner!

    Fay,
The town I live her in NC doesn’t have a movie theatre either. The closest one is 10 miles away. We usually rent since I have a hard time sitting still without getting stiff for two hours.

    I hope you are well!

    Hi Kathryn,

That’s the great part about being married to my hubby. He can find an alternate route to most destinations! Dinner was good, but not exciting,

    Hey Cindy!

Wow! Ten miles sounds so close to me! It’s about 27 miles to the movie theater from my house. The amount of time it takes to get there depends on the amount of traffic. We saw “The Bucket List.” If you haven’t seen it yet, and I know you want to, then I recommend it. It was very entertaining. BTW, I wish we lived closer to each other, I really want to see 27 Dresses. My husband would rather poke out his eyes and Julia works nights!

    Y’all come back!
